In this piece for the Sunday New York Times, I write about a lawsuit filed by Li Nanyang, the daughter of nanogenarian CP leader Li Rui. The suit aims to get an explanation from the government about why Mr. Li's memoirs can't be imported into China, highlighting an increasing problem for authors and historians who publish abroad.
